Celebrating Difference: An Inspirational Visit from Bart Gee
This half term, our PSHE topic is Celebrating Difference, and today we had the privilege of bringing this theme to life in a truly memorable way. We were delighted to welcome Bart Gee to school for an inspirational and thought-provoking assembly with pupils from Years 3–8.
Bart shared his personal story of overcoming challenges and delivered a powerful message of “possible”—reminding us all that limitations can be transformed into opportunities with determination and creativity. His words encouraged children to see difference not as a barrier, but as a source of strength and resilience.
Following the assembly, selected year groups took part in interactive workshops designed to deepen their understanding of adaptability and problem-solving. Activities included tasks such as getting up from the floor without using arms and writing their name in unconventional ways. These exercises highlighted how alternative approaches can unlock new possibilities, especially when faced with physical challenges.
The sessions fostered empathy, resilience, and creativity, helping pupils appreciate that embracing difference empowers individuals to thrive. We encourage families to continue the conversation at home—discussing today’s experiences and the themes explored will help children develop a richer understanding of inclusion and perseverance.
