Reception Pupils Enjoy NYO Local Visit
We were delighted to welcome two talented young violinists to Lochinver House, a leading prep school in Potters Bar, as part of the National Youth Orchestra’s NYO Local initiative. This programme encourages young musicians to bring live music into their communities and inspire the next generation.
The musicians, who are siblings of children in our Reception, delivered an engaging session specially designed for our youngest pupils. Taking inspiration from the Octonauts, they created an interactive experience that immediately captured the children’s imaginations.
Reception pupils enjoyed a live musical performance alongside violin demonstrations and an introduction to how the instruments work. There was also an opportunity to ask questions, giving pupils a fascinating insight into what it is like to learn and perform music at a high level.
It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm from the children, who responded with curiosity and excitement throughout. Experiences like this are an important part of life Lochinver House, helping to nurture creativity, confidence and a lifelong appreciation of the arts.
As one of the top independent schools in Hertfordshire, we are proud to offer opportunities that enrich learning beyond the classroom and reflect the strong sense of community shared by our families.
We are very grateful to the National Youth Orchestra for making this opportunity possible, and to the visiting musicians for sharing their time, talent and passion with our school community.
