Independent Entry to the Pre Prep Department
Each year Lochinver House admits up to 44 boys into Reception following a careful selection process. Once registered, your child will be invited to an assessment in the early part of the autumn term, almost a year before they are due to commence their Reception year. Registration is advisable by the end of the summer term of that year.
There is no other major intake into any year group after Reception until 11+ entry to Year 7. However, occasional places may arise in Years 1 to 6, so if you are interested in a place for your child in those year groups, please contact the Registrar to arrange a visit to the School or to complete a registration.
Independent Entry to Year 7 at 11+
It is widely held that 11 is not the optimum age of transfer for boys to move on to secondary education; developmentally, boys are better suited to moving to senior school at age 13. Lochinver has experience of helping boys who join us at 11 to gain entry to their chosen school at age 13. In recent years, boys who joined Lochinver at age 11 have gained places at Haberdashers’ Aske’s, St. Albans, Haileybury, St Columba’s College, and Aldenham School.
The extra two years in a top-class Preparatory School really can make a difference. We are firmly committed to enabling boys to achieve their full potential at this crucial stage in their lives.
To arrange a visit and find out what makes Lochinver House Preparatory School special and unique, please contact Anne Meir, Registrar. We very much look forward to meeting you and your child.
