Jamie’s Reading Challenge
At the beginning of the summer holiday last year, Jamie, Year 3, decided to set himself the challenge of reading his height in books and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. By the end of the recent spring half term break, Jamie had completed the challenge and had read 81 books, an awe-inspiring tally!
Jamie’s fundraising target was also cleverly chosen to equate to his height in inches multiplied by his age, which came at the time to £406.30. By the end of the challenge, Jamie was delighted to exceed his fundraising target by around 50% to raise a whopping £610. In addition, the stack of completed books had far and above exceeded his height!
As Roald Dhal once said, “If you are going to get anywhere in life you have to read a lot of books.” A massive well done and thank you to Jamie for inspiring us all to pick up a book and get reading!
