Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge
At Lochinver House, we are constantly looking for opportunities and ways to stretch and challenge our boys. We were therefore delighted, once again, to enter all boys in Years 3 to 8 to the Bebras Computational Thinking challenge in November. The Challenge is sponsored by Oxford University and the Raspberry Pi Foundation. It is a fun and rewarding way of raising awareness of Computer Science and involves solving problems using computational thinking skills. These are the very skills used by software engineers to write programmes and apps!
This year, a whopping 241,023 took part in the Challenge in the UK. We were delighted to learn that 47 of our boys achieved distinctions in their age categories. In addition, 13 boys in Years 6, 7 and 8 came in the to 10% of participants nationally and have been invited to take part in a new coding challenge, the Oxford University Computing Challenge, which they will complete at Lochinver House in February. Our congratulations go to all of the boys who took part and we look forward to hearing how Raphael, Jenson, Henry (Year 6), Harry, Misha, Joshua, James, Nicholas, Ben, Eddie (Year 7), William, Billy and Harry (Year 8) get on in the Oxford University Challenge next term. We wish you the very best of luck, boys!
