Good Diabetes Care in School Award!

Lochinver House’s approach to education has always been holistic and encompasses the needs of every single one of our boys by recognising not just the importance of intellectual and academic education but also the physical, spiritual, social and emotional aspects of their development.

 

It goes without saying that high academic standards are set to encourage critical thinking, practical application and a whole lot more.  However, it is equally important that we offer a safe and secure environment for our boys to become the very best that they can be.

 

There is a saying which goes, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’ and it’s true!  So, in addition to our hugely talented teaching staff, Lochinver boys are also supported quietly behind the scenes by many more key members of staff, who work tirelessly to ensure their wellbeing at all times.

 

Mrs Judith Collins, or Nurse Judy as she is known to the boys, provides expert medical care and support as well as a listening ear to anyone who might be feeling a little out of sorts.  Her care for the boys is unstinting.

 

Imagine, therefore, how absolutely thrilled we were to learn that through Nurse Judy’s excellent care and support of our diabetic boys in particular, Lochinver House has been awarded the Good Diabetes Care in School award by Diabetes UK.  This award is testament to Nurse Judy’s dedication and the difference she makes every single day, not only to the boys living with diabetes, but also to their parents who know that their sons remain in very safe hands throughout the day.
