Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole
This term, Year 1 have been learning about the lives of Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. As part of this, they have explored their similarities and investigated the different ways they treated the wounded and the sick. We concluded this topic with a wonderful visit from Professor Kyriacou, father of Andreas and Christos, Year 1. Professor Kyriacou talked to the boys about Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), his work as a biomedical engineer and how technology is used in medicine today. The boys were thoroughly engrossed, had numerous questions and some are very keen to pursue careers in biomedical engineering!
Our huge thanks go to Professor Kyriacou for giving up his time and giving us such an interesting and engaging talk.
