Last May, Nick came top of the leader board in a golf tournament at Redbourne, qualifying for the Regional Final at Cambridge Lakes Golf Club, where he went on to qualify for the Wee Wonders National Grand Final at St Andrews, the famous home of golf! Nick finished 13th out of 33, beating boys aged 14 and under, no mean feat considering Nick yas yet to turn 9! Nick showed huge determination and maturity throughout, qualities which make us very proud of him at Lochinver House.
Nick said of his experience:
"I wasn’t that happy about how I played my first nine but I was extremely happy about how I played in my last two rounds, especially my second round as I managed to shoot 2 over!
The sun was shining but the wind was blowing so it wasn’t playing easy. I’m proud of where I finished, especially as this was my first national tournament. I have to remember that thousands of children from across the UK and Ireland entered this event and I was lucky to make it to the final. It was an honour to play at the home of golf and it’s something I will remember for a long, long time!’’
Following his success at St Andrews, Nick played in a tournament in Surrey this week, coming first and beating boys aged 14 and under with his total gross score. His prize is the privilege of competing in a tournament in Spain over four days in the October half term holiday. We wish Nick every success and can't wait to hear how he gets on.
Do we have a young Rory Mcllroy in the making!
