Creativity in the class room
School is such an interesting place to be for so many reasons. It is a place where you explore your creativity, challenge yourself, make strong friendships and hopefully learn something new every day. However, how often do you get to decide the content of your lessons? In the English department we have for a number of years been exploring the potential of independent learning and to this end a task was set for some of the Year 7 and 8 early this term. They had to consider what they liked to do when they weren’t in school; to detail elements about themselves and their personalities through a creative piece of work. The boys were given carte blanche to present their work in any way they chose. Some did collages, photographic sequences, illustrations, poems, descriptions, 3D representations and many more. Whatever medium they chose they all showed sides of themselves that perhaps we don’t always see.
