Check out our pipe cleaner neurons!
Pre Prep have thoroughly enjoyed a stimulating science week. We started the week with a bang as the boys watched a 'Reactions in action' science show. They learnt about chemical and physical reactions and irreversible changes. This was followed by dinosaur workshops, where the boys stepped into the shoes of palaeontologists investigating dinosaur teeth and bones.
Science activities have been scattered throughout the week following the theme of 'journeys'. Reception explored the different lobes of their brain as they assembled 'brain hats' and played games testing their brains! Year 2 also followed the theme of brains, where they made their own pipe cleaner neurons and wrote their first or favourite memories. Year 1 were fascinated by static electricity as they made newts fly, inspired by the story 'Matilda'. The science poster entries showing journeys are looking fantastic so far.
In Reception the excitement has been palpable watching ducklings hatch from eggs. The boys watched with anticipation as the first wobbles and cracks were seen. The first to peek his way through was 'Beaky' who remained as just a beak for 24 hours! 'Chippy' was first to emerge. He spurred on his siblings and soon we welcomed in RG: Fluffy, Ryan and Freddie . In RS we welcomed Fluffy, Rainbow, Duckstar and Beaky. We look forward to watching the ducks learn how to swim next week!
