Robin is off to The University of Oxford!
All boys in Years 2 to 7 recently took part in the UK Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge, which promotes problem solving skills and Informatics concepts, including the ability to break down complex tasks into simpler components, algorithm design, pattern recognition, pattern generalisation and abstraction.
We were delighted to learn that all of our boys scored very well in comparison to schools nationally and that 14 of our Year 6 and 7 pupils came in the top 10% in the UK in their respective categories (there were a staggering 201,000 students taking part this year)!
Congratulations go to Jack and Henry in Year 3, Joshua in Year 5 and Robin in Year 7, all of whom were awarded 'Best in School' certificates.
The top 10% of students in this year’s Bebras Challenge are now invited to take part in the finals of a new Coding Challenge, the TCS Oxford Computing Challenge next March. Well done Harry, William, Marios, Sebastian and James in Year 6 and Leo, Kaya, James, Alex, Anthony, Zachary, Mateo, Teni and Robin in Year 7 - we wish you all the very best of luck with your next Challenge in March!
An extra special mention must also go to Robin, Year 7, who was placed amongst the best in the country and has been invited to the University of Oxford for the second stage of the Bebras Challenge in February. Robin's day at Oxford will include lectures and the chance to explore Hertford College, as well as competing in the Challenge and attending a special awards Ceremony.
We are looking forward to hearing all about your day and, again, our huge congratulations go to you Robin, we are incredibly proud of you!
