As part of our commitment to our local and wider community, Lochinver raises funds for charities during the course of each year. Since fundraising was started in 1997, around £350,000 has been given to good causes, along with shoe boxes for the Shoe Box Appeal and food parcels for the local Foodbank.
The major part of this is through the Headboys' Charities and the PTA. At the start of each academic year a number of Charities are presented at an assembly by the Headboys and other boys in Year 8. The whole school votes for the charity they would like to support and the final decision on how many charities are supported is made by those boys presenting their nominated charities. For a list of those charities collected for since 1997, please see the attachment below.
Other charities including the Royal British Legion, the British Heart Foundation, Readathon and Children In Need are regularly supported.
Great fun is had while raising money and some of the events which take place every year include Tuck Shop (every Tuesday), play and concert collections, mufti days, stocks at the Fete , French Breakfast, staff v boys basketball, football tournaments, the Christmas Giving Tree and guess the name of the cuddly toy,
As well as raising funds for worthy charities, boys are encouraged to think about charitable acts towards other members of the community, including our own at Lochinver House. Older boys are encouraged to support younger boys as reading buddies and to act as mentors and role models to their younger peers.
Wishing our U11 Football Team the very best of luck in today's Finals of the ISFA National Tournament! Whatever the outcome, we are immensely proud of all of you for coming so far!
